Dare to Dream
As inspired lately by my friend Nokoso's broadening of horizons during her Germany trip, I decided to check out the IVIS website in an attempt to keep myself more up to date with world veterinary events. The first link that I clicked led me to the website for the 28th World Veterinary Congress held in Minneapolis, July 2005. For some reason, just idly browsing through the itineries and programs they offer for vet students and practising vets was enough to make me feel pretty excited... but also a little frustrated. Because I realise that the U.S. is THE PLACE to be, even for a field like veterinary science. All the major events are held there, and just by looking at a few itinery pages, it is obvious that they offer SO SO SO much. It just makes me wish I had, somehow, managed to perservere and graduate with a biology degree in the U.S. and move on to get a vet degree after that. But I do not want to look back now, or regret any decision I had made. Cuz I don't believe that there is only one right path to take on my journey. Surely, I can focus on the benefits of an early graduation and make up for some lost opportunities?
Now, if only air tickets from Australia to America is waaaayyyy much cheaper than it currently is..............maybe I can aim to attend the 2006 WVC... Better still, why don't they hold it in Australia?
